Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:


 



  • Write code and manage implementation of system software for medical electrical equipment for both new product design and sustaining engineering (per: IEC 620304,IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-4 and ISO 14971 standards)

  • Generate and maintain required software design control documentation

  • Perform trouble-shooting and debugging of embedded logic, scripts, interfaces, and controllers

  • Provide written reports, protocols and engineering documentation for testing of programmable electronic subsystems and integrated systems

Position Requirements

 


This position requires the following skills and attributes:



  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7+ years of professional experience in medical electronics design/test

  • Must be able to understand, analyze and troubleshoot complex medical electronic systems and control schemes

  • Working understanding and use of IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-4 and ISO 14971 standards

  • Understanding of and willingness to do concurrent code documentation required by standards

  • Software/firmware design experience from concept to product

  • Prior working/design experience with combined analog and digital device designs

  • Embedded micro controller software design experience

  • Programming skill and experience with C, assembly and other comparable programming languages, compilers, debuggers and bug tracking systems

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions for complex control systems

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Willingness to discuss software/firmware control techniques with co-workers

  • Supervise and prepare laboratory technicians for software systems testing, as required


Preferred


The following skills and attributes are preferred:



  • Master's degree

  • Experience in the electrosurgical field

  • Experience with medical electronics verification and validation processes and procedures

  • Proficiency with embedded control systems
